This page lists the key UK-specific resources and equipment I recommend for use in your microgreens operation. I won’t recommend anything unless I’ve tried it myself in my own microgreens farm and love it!

Microgreens Grow Trays

These grow trays, specific for microgreens growing, started being made in the UK in December 2020. They were a game-changer in my farm!

Up until this point, only the smaller ‘standard’ seed trays were available in the UK, or you had to import larger, shallower trays from China or the US.

For me, these are a perfect tray to grow microgreens in, here’s why:

  1. They’re made of durable, food safe plastic that will last for years to come.

  2. The size of them allows you to maximise space in your grow room, therefore maximising your crop yields. They measure 56cm x 28cm on the outer side.

  3. They’re shallow, which means you can fill them to the top with your medium (compost in my case), making it easier to cut your greens and not unnecessarily over fill your trays.

  4. They have a perfect number of holes cut into them. Enough for the roots to develop healthily, but not too many holes (like mesh) that means the roots get stuck in there and they’re a nightmare to clean!

UK Microgreen Seeds

If you want to grow consistently amazing microgreens, then using the best quality seed possible is essential.

I've been continually growing microgreens at my microgreens farm since 2017. I've used many different seed batches and suppliers over the years and done 100s of grow trials, so I know great quality seed when I see it! (or grow it!).
